{"id":114,"date":"2014-05-04T09:36:28","date_gmt":"2014-05-04T16:36:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/?p=114"},"modified":"2014-05-04T09:39:28","modified_gmt":"2014-05-04T16:39:28","slug":"grendel-ar-pistol-slap-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/?p=114","title":{"rendered":"Grendel AR Pistol slap together"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I like 6.5 Grendel. \u00a0It seems like a great replacement for the anemic 5.56 while still fitting in the standard AR. \u00a0I already have a 6.5\u00a0AR with an 18&#8243; barrel but I was thinking another. \u00a0I never shoot long range so was thinking a short range toy with a harder hitting bullet than the old 5.55.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to make the craziest all out cool AR pistol based on a Liberty 7.5&#8243; Grendel barrel I got from <a title=\"Satern\" href=\"http:\/\/saternmachining.com\/\">Satern<\/a>. \u00a0I spent a few weeks collecting parts from all over to make my ultimate pistol. \u00a0Caveat:\u00a0I went for cheap ultimate here, bought a lot of Chinese stuff like UTG rails and mounts and Primary Arms red dot and 3x Magnifier, but then added some high-end bits like a JP Silent Captured Spring and slipped in a 2 stage trigger form Rock River. \u00a0For the tail end\u00a0I picked up the very controversial SB15 from SigArms known as an arm brace. \u00a0Sure it looks like a stock, but I assure you it is a pistol arm brace and therefore can be legally placed on a pistol. \u00a0Top it off I picked up a Krinkov style flashhider to kill the fire-breathing dragon effect that short barrels ARs get. \u00a0To make it easy\u00a0I started off with an assembled Spikes tactical Pistol lower in 5.56. \u00a0I admit I hate trying to do the mag release pin in a bare lower so this time I didn&#8217;t have to.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_116\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_116\"  class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"  ><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistolParts.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-116 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistolParts-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"Thrash_GrendelPistolParts\" width=\"558\" height=\"313\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistolParts-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistolParts-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistolParts.jpg 1513w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 558px) 100vw, 558px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_116\"  class=\"wp-caption-text\">All the parts ready for assembly of my new 6.5 Grendel<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dropped it all on my dining room table and began to slap it together. \u00a0The over-sized milled upper I got on gunbroker caused a few issues with parts not fitting well, but after a few scratches here got it all together before dinner.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_115\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_115\"  class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"  ><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistol.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-115 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistol-1024x575.jpg\" alt=\"Thrash_GrendelPistol\" width=\"558\" height=\"313\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistol-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistol-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.katzbalgerarms.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Thrash_GrendelPistol.jpg 1513w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 558px) 100vw, 558px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_115\"  class=\"wp-caption-text\">6.5 Grendel Pistol All together about an hour and a half later<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Oh and I like it! \u00a0May need to fine tune the buffer springs at the range, but I am blown away with how cool this completely legal pistol is. \u00a0Its a bit heavy but very handy and feels great to hold. \u00a0 It is very short!
